Our Mission

Our Story

Clean Start Apparel started with heartbreak.

I've struggled with addiction myself. I've lost friends to it. I've watched family members fight their way through it — some who made it out, some who didn't. And here in Portland, I see it everywhere. It's impossible to walk through this city and not be reminded of how many people are still fighting, still stuck, still waiting for a way out.

I wanted to do something. Not just talk about it — actually put money where the need is.

How it works

Every item you buy puts $3 toward helping someone get into rehab.

Every quarter, I research and select a legitimate, well-vetted organization doing real work in addiction recovery, and that's where the funds go. I'll post updates here and on social media showing exactly where the money went and how much was raised — no vague promises, just receipts.

This isn't charity from a distance. This is personal. Every shirt, every hoodie, every mug is a small piece of someone's second chance.

This quarter, we're supporting The Herren Project

Founded by former NBA player Chris Herren, who has been in long-term recovery since 2008, The Herren Project helps people navigate the treatment placement process and get into the right treatment center — quickly, easily, and affordably. They also offer recovery housing scholarships and recovery coaching for people on their journey.

They're rated 4 stars by Charity Navigator and hold a Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar — every dollar you help send their way is going somewhere legitimate and effective.

A Clean Start — for all of us

Recovery is possible. I've seen it. I've lived pieces of it. This brand exists so that more people get the chance to see it too.
